St. Luke’s Holds Second Annual In-House Model UN Tournament
On Thursday, Oct.19, we held our second annual in-house Model United Nations tournament (see photo gallery) to prepare for our first off-campus trip to Princeton University on Nov. 16. During the tournament, 55 Upper School students engaged in a historical crisis simulation based on the Russian Revolution of 1917.
Model UN is more than just an extracurricular activity; it embodies our commitment to instill the confidence to lead within our student body. Club co-presidents Reese Kubick ’25 and McLain Boege ’24 lead our MUN team and are a significant part of why our club has expanded in membership and activity over the last year. Model UN is entirely student-run. Our Executive Board oversees everything from creating background guides to committee management to delivering backroom updates. They equip our students with invaluable cooperation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
After our MUN tournament, the Executive Board was pleased to award the following students for their exemplary diplomatic efforts in the Revolutionary camp:
- Maeve Welch ’26 - Best Rookie Performance
- Matt Staub ’25 - Outstanding Delegate
- Lena Olbrys ’25 - Best Delegate
For the Imperialists, the Executive Board awarded:
- Alden McWhorter ’27 - Best Rookie Performance
- Jack Winalski ’25 - Outstanding Delegate
- Wyatt Patrick ’26 - Best Delegate
As we look toward next season, Model UN will channel the spirit of "One St. Luke's" as our Upper School MUN team gears up to run an in-house tournament for the Middle School, fostering mentorship and unity across our school community.
